Haslemere Herald, June 2009

Children from the Grayshott and Haslemere branches of Suzie Songtime raised a wonderful £421.50 for Barnardo’s when they took part in The Big Toddle 2009!

Children aged from just a few weeks old to four and a half were sponsored to toddle (or be carried or wheeled!) round a half mile course with their friends and parents to support the charity.

Thousands of children across the UK take part in this annual event – now in it’s 13th year. After their Songtimes classes at St Lukes church hall, the children and their carers made their way along the Headley Road to the recreation ground – and all walked their distance singing songs all the way! A few local residents came out to cheer on the toddlers – and afterwards the group enjoyed drinks and sweets, kindly donated by local branches of the Co-Op and Tesco. They all received medals and certificates from Barnardos for their efforts.

Susannah and Suzanne (alias the two Suzies) said that the children really embraced the idea and a good time was had by all!

Smiles All Round for Red Nose Day!
April 2009

Suzie Songtime are normally well known for their singing prowess, but on this occasion, they put down their tambourines, and picked up their baking tins instead!  All in the name of fund raising for Red Nose Day 2009!

The children were clearly delighted to be involved with this fund raiser, helping to buy and sell (and eat) Red Nose cakes at St Lukes Community Centre.  The cake sale raised £45, and a lot of spirits!

Children Raise £401.36 For Local Barnardo’s Project
Haslemere Herald, 5th Setpember 2008

Children from the Grayshott branch of SUZIES’ SONGTIMES have raised a fantastic £401.36 by taking part in the Big Toddle 2008 in aid of Barnardo’s.

Children ranging from 1 month to 4 ½ years were sponsored to toddle (or be carried or wheeled!) round a half mile course to support Barnardo’s with their friends and parents. Now in it’s twelth year, the Big Toddle continues to be the biggest, brightest and best event for under 5’s, with thousands of children taking part in Toddles across the UK.

After finishing the mornings Songtimes classes at St Lukes’ church hall in Grayshott, the children and their carers made their way to the recreation and cricket ground along the Headley road and all walked their half mile whilst singing songs from the classes all the way! A few local residents heard the singing and came out to cheer on the little ones – and afterwards the group all picniced on the field and received medals and certificates for the wonderful effort and achievement.

Susannah Wilson (alias Suzie!) said that the children really embraced the idea – and is hoping to join forces with the Haslemere children next year to raise even more money for this fantastic charity.

First Bus Ride For Suzie's Singing Tots
Haslemere Herald, September 2003

Stagecoach provided a special bus so that members of a new Haslemere and Grayshott based music group could sing ‘The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round’ on the move.  The children, all under 4 who attend Suzies Songtimes classes at the St Lukes Church Hall, Grayshott and Haslewey Centre, Haslemere, have been singing the song using rows of chairs to imitate a bus.  Susannah Wilson and Suzanne Brockett, two mums who have a West End musical theatre background and founded Suzies Songtimes, made contact with the Aldershot depot of Stagecoach to see if a bus could be provided to give most of the children their very first bus ride.

Brian Pratt, Assistant Operations Manager, accompanied the special bus ride around the area, and complimented the children and mothers for their rendition. ‘It was very impressive,’ said Brian Pratt. ‘They have obviously been rehearsing and looking forward to the chance of singing one of their favourite songs on the double decker.’

If there is an event that you think Suzie should attend, then please let her know!

"We love Suzie Songtime! It is engaging, great fun and the learning lasts all week with requests to sing songs from Suzie every day and night."
